New Delhi: The Government of India has postponed the upcoming Fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV) in view of the emerging public health situation in Africa linked to the Ebola outbreak.
In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that after consultations between India and the African Union, both sides agreed that it would be advisable to hold the summit at a later date.
The summit was originally scheduled to take place from May 28 to 31 in New Delhi and was expected to bring together leaders from across Africa along with representatives of the African Union Commission to strengthen India-Africa cooperation across multiple sectors.
The MEA stated that fresh dates for the summit and associated meetings will be finalised through mutual consultations and announced later.
DPCI International Desk reports that the postponement reflects growing global concern over the Ebola outbreak and its potential impact on international diplomatic engagements and public health safety.
