Donald Trump has announced that the United States is temporarily holding back a planned military strike against Iran following requests from Gulf nation leaders and the beginning of what he described as “serious negotiations”.
In a statement shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the proposed military action scheduled for Tuesday was paused after discussions with leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
According to Trump, Gulf leaders assured the United States that efforts were underway to reach an agreement that would be “very acceptable” to Washington. He also strongly reiterated that the US would not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Trump warned that the United States remained fully prepared to launch a “large scale assault” against Iran at any moment if negotiations failed or if an acceptable agreement was not reached.
Meanwhile, tensions continued to rise after a senior Iranian military commander warned the United States against making what he described as “strategic mistakes and miscalculations again”. Iranian officials have repeatedly criticised US military threats and foreign pressure regarding Tehran’s nuclear activities.
The latest developments have once again increased global attention on the long-standing conflict between the United States and Iran, with many countries closely monitoring the diplomatic negotiations taking place in the Gulf region.
International observers fear that any direct military confrontation between Washington and Tehran could seriously affect Middle East stability, global oil markets, and international security.
DPCI News Desk reports that diplomatic efforts are continuing as world leaders call for restraint and peaceful negotiations to prevent further escalation in the region.
