Amy Hunt Set for Diamond League Season Opener in China

Amy Hunt will compete alongside some of the world’s biggest athletics stars as the 2026 Diamond League season begins in China this weekend.

The British athlete, who won silver in the 200m at the World Championships in Tokyo last year, will take part in a highly competitive women’s 200m race featuring Jamaican sprint star Shericka Jackson and American champion Sha’Carri Richardson.

Other British athletes participating include Ben Pattison, discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, and long-distance runners Melissa Courtney-Bryant and Revee Walcott-Nolan.

The Shanghai/Keqiao event will also feature global athletics icons including Swedish pole vault champion Armand Duplantis, Kenyan middle-distance legend Faith Kipyegon, and Botswana sprint sensation Letsile Tebogo.

The Diamond League season includes 15 international events before concluding with the finals in Brussels later this year.

DPCI Sports Desk reports that the opening event is expected to deliver thrilling performances as top athletes begin preparations for the major championships ahead.
