Virat Kohli creates history in Thiruvananthapuram
Virat Kohli produced a spectacular performance against the West Indies in the first ODI at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. Kohli smashed an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls, including 10 fours and 9 sixes, to register his 55th ODI century. During the same innings, he became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to cross 15,000 ODI runs. Shubman Gill also scored 110 as India chased down West Indies’ 295/7 with 300/2 in 41.4 overs, winning by eight wickets and taking a 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
🥇 Asian Games: India adds seven medals
India enjoyed another productive day at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, winning seven medals on September 27 — five in athletics and two silver medals in squash. Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh won silver in the women’s and men’s singles squash finals respectively. In athletics, Ancy Sojan and Sarvesh Kushare won silver, while Parul Chaudhary, Tejaswin Shankar and Harita Bhadra secured bronze medals.
India finished the day with 37 medals — 4 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze — and stood 12th in the overall standings. India’s badminton campaign also ended with PV Sindhu and Unnati Hooda exiting in the women’s singles quarter-finals.
South Africa beat Australia in another high-scoring ODI
South Africa defeated Australia by 32 runs in the second ODI at Johannesburg to take an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. South Africa posted a huge 365/9, powered by centuries from David Miller (142) and Captain Temba Bavuma (103). Australia fought back with the bat but was bowled out for 333, falling short of the target.
🏴 England crush Sri Lanka and win ODI series
England completed a 2–1 series victory over Sri Lanka after a commanding 223-run win in the third ODI at The Oval. England scored 355/7, with Tom Banton making his maiden ODI century — 126 runs. Harry Brook scored 77 and Jordan Cox added 76. Sri Lanka were then dismissed for just 132 in 29.1 overs, giving England a comprehensive series-clinching victory.
