Chennai: The week-old Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is preparing for a major Cabinet expansion aimed at strengthening a broader secular alliance in Tamil Nadu.
According to reports, 21 ministers are expected to take oath on Thursday at Lok Bhavan, including 19 from TVK and two from the Congress party. Discussions are also underway regarding possible ministerial positions for leaders from the VCK and IUML.
The move comes after speculation that rebel AIADMK legislators, who supported the government during the recent floor test, might be accommodated in the Cabinet. However, the TVK leadership has reportedly decided against offering them ministerial berths at this stage.
Tamil Nadu minister Aadhav Arjuna, considered one of Vijay’s key political strategists, indicated that the government is now focusing on strengthening its secular and alliance-based political framework.
DPCI Political Desk reports that the Cabinet expansion is being viewed as a crucial step in stabilizing the new government while reshaping Tamil Nadu’s evolving political landscape.
