Nat Sciver-Brunt has been ruled out of England’s upcoming T20 series against New Zealand women’s national cricket team and India women’s national cricket team due to a calf injury, raising concerns ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
England Cricket confirmed that further medical scans showed the all-rounder requires a longer recovery period after suffering a tear in her left calf during domestic cricket action in April.
Although England management remains hopeful about her availability for the World Cup starting next month, Sciver-Brunt is expected to miss valuable match practice before the tournament begins.
In her absence, off-spinner Charlie Dean will continue leading the England side during the T20 series.
Meanwhile, opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge will also miss the New Zealand series as she awaits the birth of her first child.
England will play two World Cup warm-up matches in June before beginning their campaign against Sri Lanka women’s national cricket team at Edgbaston on 12 June.
DPCI Sports Desk reports that England will be hoping for the quick recovery of captain Nat Sciver-Brunt as the team prepares for one of the biggest tournaments in women’s cricket.
