The Public Education Protection Committee and the Mysuru district unit of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) have urged the Karnataka government to appoint a State Education Minister without further delay and address pending issues affecting government and aided schools.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the organisations stated that although schools have been functioning for nearly two months, several essential facilities have yet to be provided to students. They alleged that the distribution of shoes and socks is still pending, while notebooks, which the government had announced for all students in government and aided schools from the current academic year, have not yet reached many schools.
The organisations appealed to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to take immediate steps to appoint an Education Minister and ensure the timely delivery of basic educational resources to students across the state.
