The Andhra Pradesh government is making elaborate preparations to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district on August 1, 2026.
As part of the inaugural celebrations, nearly 13,000 school students will perform the traditional tribal folk dance Dhimsa, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh.
Ahead of the event, more than 5,000 students participated in rehearsal sessions at the airport venue on Thursday. Senior officials, including Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu and District Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, reviewed the preparations and monitored the rehearsals to ensure the programme is conducted smoothly.
The large-scale cultural performance is expected to be one of the highlights of the inauguration ceremony, reflecting the state’s vibrant tribal traditions while extending a grand welcome to the Prime Minister.
