Chennai, July 7: The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited for the expansion of its facilities in Porur and Chengalpattu.
The MoU was signed at the State Secretariat in Chennai in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
According to an official statement, the expansion projects will involve an investment of ₹1,000 crore and are expected to generate 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs over the next three to five years.
The agreement covers the expansion of Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited’s facility in Porur and Hitachi Energy India Limited’s facility in Chengalpattu, with the aim of strengthening the company’s operations and supporting Tamil Nadu’s growing technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
State officials said the investment is expected to boost industrial development, create employment opportunities, and reinforce Tamil Nadu’s position as a leading destination for advanced technology and engineering investments.
The projects are scheduled to be implemented in phases over the next three to five years.
