New Delhi, July 27: The Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up discussion on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, following its introduction by Union Minister Jitendra Singh earlier in the day.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla announced the timing of the discussion after the House was adjourned till 5:00 p.m. amid continued protests by Opposition members demanding accountability for the recent police action against students protesting alleged examination irregularities.
The proposed Amendment Bill aims to strengthen the legal framework to prevent paper leaks and other unfair practices in public examinations. It introduces stricter penal provisions to tackle examination-related fraud and organised malpractice.
Key features of the Bill include enhanced punishments for offences related to paper leaks, mandatory completion of investigations within two months, the establishment of Special Fast Track Courts for speedy trials, and financial penalties of up to ₹10 crore for organised criminal networks involved in examination fraud. The legislation is part of the Central Government’s efforts to improve the integrity, transparency, and credibility of public examinations and recruitment processes across the country.
