New Delhi, July 16: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited interest for the financial year 2025–26 to all 34 crore Provident Fund (PF) accounts in a single day on July 15, marking the first time such a large-scale credit has been completed simultaneously.

The interest has been credited at the approved annual rate of 8.25%, following the Union Finance Ministry’s approval of the recommendation made by the EPFO’s Central Board of Trustees.

According to the EPFO, more than ₹1.44 lakh crore has been credited as interest to members’ PF accounts. The large-scale credit was made possible after the implementation of the Centralised IT Enabled Services (CITES) project, which modernised and streamlined the organisation’s database and processing system.

A senior EPFO official said that members will be able to view the credited interest by accessing their 2025–26 EPF passbook.

Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had earlier announced that the upgraded digital infrastructure would enable the organisation to credit interest to all eligible accounts in one go, improving efficiency and transparency for EPF members.

The latest move is expected to benefit millions of salaried employees across the country by ensuring timely and uniform credit of annual PF interest.
