Kota, July 16: Five women who developed severe kidney infections following Caesarean (C-section) deliveries at Kota’s New Medical College Hospital (NMCH) have demanded immediate kidney transplants, giving authorities a 48-hour deadline to present a time-bound treatment plan.

The families of the affected women submitted a memorandum to district authorities and also appealed to the President of India, urging immediate intervention to ensure life-saving kidney transplants.

According to the families, what was expected to be a routine two-day hospital stay for childbirth turned into a prolonged medical crisis. The women have been battling serious kidney infections since their deliveries and have undergone 32 rounds of dialysis over the past 68 days.

The prolonged treatment has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on the families, who say the patients’ condition continues to deteriorate despite repeated dialysis sessions.

The families have urged the government to expedite the transplant process and provide all necessary medical and financial support. They warned that if concrete action is not taken within the stipulated 48 hours, they will intensify their protest.

The affected women are currently undergoing treatment at New Medical College Hospital in Kota as investigations and medical care continue.
