Kodagu, July 8: In view of intensified southwest monsoon rains, the Kodagu district administration has declared a holiday for all anganwadi centres, schools, and colleges on Wednesday, July 8, as a precautionary measure.
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner Somashekar to ensure the safety of students amid continuous rainfall and the possibility of rain-related incidents across the district.
Several parts of Kodagu received moderate to heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, causing disruption to normal life. Bhagamandala recorded the highest rainfall of 165 mm during the period.
The incessant rain also led to damage in several areas. A house was partially damaged after a tree fell on it, while a road caved in at Kolthodu Baigodu village under Hattur Gram Panchayat, affecting local transportation.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious as heavy rainfall is expected to continue in parts of the district. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have urged people living in vulnerable areas to follow safety advisories issued by the administration.
