Geneva: The United Nations has expressed serious concern over the escalating Israeli military operations and increasing settler violence in the West Bank. According to the UN children’s agency, UNICEF, at least 70 Palestinian children have been killed in the ongoing conflict since the beginning of 2025.

UNICEF spokesperson James Elder stated that children living in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, are facing unbearable suffering amid the worsening violence. Speaking to reporters in Geneva, he highlighted the growing humanitarian impact on Palestinian families and children.

Reports indicate that since Israel launched large-scale military operations in the West Bank in 2025, an average of one Palestinian child has been killed every week. During the same period, nearly 850 children were reportedly injured.

According to UNICEF, the majority of those killed and injured suffered gunshot wounds. The United Nations also noted that March 2026 recorded the highest number of Palestinians injured in attacks by Israeli settlers in the past two decades.

The UN has once again called for the protection of civilians, especially children, and urged all parties involved to prevent further escalation of violence in the region.
