Bengaluru, July 28: Bengaluru has emerged as India’s leading hub for space technology startups, attracting more than half of the country’s total space tech funding, according to a report by market research firm Tracxn.
The report states that India’s space tech sector raised a record $200 million in 2025, while total funding in the sector reached approximately $871 million as of July 2026.
Bengaluru topped the ecosystem by raising $495 million across 106 funding rounds, accounting for 57% of the total sector funding. The report highlights the city’s growing dominance in India’s private space industry.
Among the top-funded companies, Skyroot Aerospace leads with $150 million in funding, making it India’s first space tech unicorn. The Hyderabad-based company recently achieved a major milestone when its Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital-class rocket, successfully reached low Earth orbit on July 18, 2026.
- According to the report, the top 10 most-funded space tech companies account for more than 60% of the total funding in the sector, reflecting increasing investor confidence in India’s rapidly expanding private space ecosystem.
