Madrid: Two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from this year’s Wimbledon Championships due to a persistent wrist injury.
The world number two had earlier pulled out of the Barcelona Open and the French Open after suffering an injury to his right wrist. In a statement shared on Instagram, Alcaraz said his recovery is progressing well but he is “still not ready to compete.”
The Spaniard will also miss the grass-court season, including the Queen’s tournament, where he is a two-time champion.
Alcaraz’s absence is expected to strengthen the title chances of world number one Jannik Sinner, who has dominated the ATP Tour in recent months.
DPCI Sports Desk reports that Alcaraz’s withdrawal is a major setback for tennis fans, with medical experts warning that wrist injuries can seriously impact long-term player performance if not managed carefully.
